O
riginally one of the earliest locations for Albany High School, 27 Western Avenue has been a landmark in the Albany community for the last century. Throughout its renovations, many efforts were made to preserve the building’s historic value by restoring much of the original brickwork in each former classroom and meticulously replacing each of the 180 windows in kind. The vaulted ceilings, restored brick throughout, original black iron sprinkler system, and oversized windows are distinctive features of the living spaces offered by the apartments. Each of these elements, combined with an exposed spiral ductwork design, hardwood flooring, central air conditioning, granite countertops, tiled bathrooms and cast iron baths collaborate to demonstrate a contemporary industrial appeal with a luxury comfort feel. Off street parking, a bicycle storage room, laundry facilities, 24/7 video surveillance of the entire premises, and a state-of-the-art fitness center work together to assist in making the logistical realities of everyday no longer seem so overwhelming. 27 Western Avenue introduces a new standard of city living in Albany.
